Anoushka Shankar

Anoushka Shankar is an American-born British sitarist and musician. She received the British House of Commons' Shield, which is the youngest and also the first female recipient. Alongside receiving nine Grammy nominations, she was also the first Indian-born musician to be a presenter and performer at the award ceremony. Anoushka Sitar Shankar was the Indian young sitar star. She is a student and daughter to Ravi Shankar. Born in London and grew up in New Delhi, she spent the first few years of her life bouncing between London and New Delhi. She gave her debut performance at New Delhi at the tender age of thirteen. Then she relocated into Encinitas CA where she graduated from High School with honours in 1999. Even though she's very young, Anouskha is an accomplished performer and recording career. Since a while, she has been performing regularly with her father. In 1998, she debuted her debut single album Anourag. The album was released in 2002. her Grammy award-winning album Live at Carnegie Hall. She has appeared at many important venues across the world. Anoushka Shakar's career isn't restricted to just music. Bapi: The love of My Live is her 2002 book, which was a tribute Ravi Shankar. She's also appeared in. In the 2003 film Dance Like a Man, where she played the role of a Bharat Natyam dancer young girl. Anoushka Shankar is an emerging star and her career will continue to grow. Anoushka was raised in England however, she spent the majority of her youth between London as well as Delhi. She then moved to California and went to high school. At the age of nine, she began her studies in music under her father. She made her debut with the sitar four years later during his 75th birthday celebration in Delhi. Alongside her father, he toured the world Anoushka was able to accumulate a variety of experience performing at Carnegie Hall while still in her teens, performing in Peter Gabriel's WOMAD festival and recording with George Harrison. Her musicianship and talent were acknowledged by the British Parliament as being among the top in Asian Arts.
