Tina Douglas her mother is a former dance teacher and Ken-Kaide Thomas Douglas her father is a singer from the past. She is more youthful than Kenashia T. Douglas. Douglas chose the name Ashanti in honor of the Ashanti Empire in which women had control and power. Douglas hoped Ashanti would be like this. James was her grandpa.
